Job Description
Environmental Service Worker Position Summary The Environmental Service Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH), including patient rooms, offices, lobbies, lounges, departments, bathrooms, exam rooms, procedure rooms, Medical Arts Plaza, and all outlying BBGH facilities. This position also performs laundry services, operates equipment used in laundering linens, and utilizes floor and carpet maintenance equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Environmental Services Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties in assigned areas, including: Patient rooms Operating rooms Emergency department Delivery rooms X-ray and laboratory areas Offices Dialysis department Exam and procedure rooms Visitor and public areas Medical Arts Plaza and other BBGH facilities Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures appropriate to patient populations and age groups. Collect and properly dispose of contaminated materials, including sharps containers and biohazard waste. Maintain stocked supply rooms and ensure adequate inventory of cleaning supplies. Maintain departmental equipment in clean, safe working condition and report repair needs. Report maintenance concerns involving equipment, furniture, building systems, and fixtures. Demonstrate knowledge of departmental chemicals and dispensing systems. Maintain hard-surface flooring and carpeting using appropriate equipment and procedures. Laundry Services Collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen according to hospital policies and procedures. Operate laundry equipment and follow manufacturer guidelines for chemical dispensing systems and wash cycles. Ensure an adequate supply of clean, sanitized linens is available to meet departmental par levels. Sort, count, and verify linen quantities. Mend torn linen items as needed. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to laundry operations. Safety and Quality Follow all infection prevention and safety procedures. Ensure linens are free from infectious contaminants. Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and regulatory requirements. Complete required documentation accurately and timely. Qualifications Education Preferred high school diploma or equivalent required.
