Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a reliable and professional Part-Time Custodian/Handyman/Maintenance Personto maintain the cleanliness, safety, organization and general upkeep of our headquarters, consisting of two office buildings and the surrounding premises. This position is responsible for routine custodial duties throughout offices, kitchens, bathrooms, locker rooms, common areas and exterior areas of the property. The position also includes light maintenance, receiving and organizing supplies, assisting with event setup and cleanup, and responding to occasional spills, leaks or other situations requiring attention. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in maintaining a clean and orderly workplace, communicates professionally, and is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize kitchens, bathrooms, locker rooms, offices, floors and other designated areas included but not limited to entrances and conference rooms. Vacuum carpets and rugs and mop floors using appropriate cleaning products and disposal procedures. Empty interior trash and recycling receptacles, replace liners, and transport all waste and recycling to the appropriate exterior dumpsters/receptacles. Maintain the cleanliness of exterior areas surrounding the buildings and dumpsters, including picking up and properly disposing of litter, debris, spilled or scattered garbage. Clean windows, doors and other surfaces and keep entrances free of dirt, debris and cobwebs. Dust surfaces, walls, equipment, HVAC grilles/returns and other designated areas on a regular basis. Perform cleaning of private/executive offices as requested. Receive, organize and put away office and building supplies and deliveries. Assist with setup and cleanup of offices, workspaces and corporate events. Respond to occasional cleanup needs in tenant spaces including spills, HVAC or roof leaks and other situations requiring prompt attention. Perform minor maintenance, repairs and adjustments as situations require. Conduct scheduled fire-alarm and emergency-lighting checks and promptly report any problems. Monitor buildings and grounds and promptly report safety concerns, maintenance needs, damage or necessary repairs to management. During adverse weather, assist with keeping building entrances and walkways clear by shoveling when necessary and appropriately treat with calcium chloride to help prevent slip-and-fall hazards. Follow established health, safety and workplace procedures. Assist with moving and relocating deliveries, supplies, equipment and other materials between buildings and between floors as needed, using hand trucks or other appropriate equipment when necessary. Move and distribute water jugs to designated areas throughout the facilities as needed. Perform other reasonable custodial, housekeeping and light-maintenance duties as assigned to support the cleanliness, safety and operation of the facilities. The responsibilities listed above are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties, special projects, and occasional additional hours may be requested based on operational needs. Qualifications & Requirements Previous custodial, janitorial, cleaning or similar experience preferred. Previous handyman experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided. Ability to work independently, manage assigned responsibilities and work cooperatively as part of a team. Professional conduct and communication appropriate for an office environment. Knowledge of basic cleaning products, equipment and safe cleaning practices. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and report maintenance or safety concerns. Dependable and able to respond appropriately to changing priorities and occasional unexpected cleanup or maintenance needs. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including prolonged standing and walking, climbing and using ladders, changing light bulbs, bending, reaching, stooping and kneeling. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
