Role:

The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within the facility. This position ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and maintained to meet health and safety standards, contributing to the overall well-being of employees, visitors, and occupants. The Custodian is responsible for performing routine janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste removal, while adhering to established safety protocols. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions to effectively complete daily tasks. Ultimately, the Custodian supports the smooth operation of the facility by creating a welcoming and hygienic atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and cleaning instructions. Basic math skills including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Physical capability to perform repetitive motions, balance, and reach with hands and arms. Experience with janitorial duties or custodial work preferred but not required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and consistently.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working as a custodian or in a similar janitorial role. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures. Knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulations. Ability to operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers or buffers. Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities:

Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines. Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed to maintain hygiene standards. Follow safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for self and others. Read and interpret cleaning schedules, safety documents, and instructions to complete tasks accurately. Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and efficiently. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly. Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture or equipment as required for events or daily operations.
