Job Summary Under the general guidance of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, the Custodian is responsible for a wide variety of cleaning and general custodial services at Cibola County Public Safety Complex and other County facilities by keeping assigned areas clean, orderly, safe, and secure with established standards and adjusting individual assignments on a daily basis. Uses several types of power-driven machines and cleaning materials. The goal is to keep our buildings in a clean and orderly condition. This position works thirty-two (32) hours a week. Work Environment Most of the work is performed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Some essential duties require the worker to perform outdoors where you will be exposed to natural weather conditions. Employee performs work on an even surface, which may be carpeted, or tiled. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces which may be wet or dry. Outdoor duties may be performed on surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, natural ground, ice, snow, gravel, or roof tops. Use of ladders and scaffolding may be also required. Worker is exposed to occasional vibration and noise factor while performing maintenance and repair duties. Maintenance Workers remain on their feet for much of the job, which includes the use of cleaning equipment, such as buffers, climbing a ladder or staircase, working on wet or slippery surfaces, and working with a wide variety or potentially harmful chemicals. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent. At least one (1) year previous custodial experience preferred. Ability to work independently of daily supervision and to exercise discretionary judgement and thinking. Must have a valid New Mexico driver's license. May not have any DWI or DUI within the last five (5) years. Pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background investigation. Ability to listen, understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English. Able to organize and prioritize work, use of time efficiently.
