What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description Rondout Valley Central School District is seeking candidates for multiple full-time, second-shift Custodial Worker positions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of building-cleaning practices, materials, supplies, and equipment.
Qualifications:
Must meet the Ulster County Civil Service job requirements for Custodial Worker
Must obtain New York State Education Department fingerprint clearance
Salary:
Per Contract General Responsibilities:
Performs routine cleaning and custodial duties to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly school environment.
Work Schedule:
School year: 2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
Summer:
6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.,
Monday-Thursday Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the direct report and/or Superintendent. Rondout Valley Central School District serves students across more than 150 square miles of rural communities in the Hudson Valley. The District includes two elementary schools serving grades K-3, a middle school serving grades 4-8, one high school, and a district office.
