Our building is a stunning 80K square-foot museum with programs and art exhibitions that change throughout the year.
Position Summary:
The Facilities Staff are primarily responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the Burchfield Penney Art Center's physical plant and grounds. The Facilities Staff complete the work assigned by the Facilities and Security Manager or the Cleaning Manager. This may require a coordinated effort across departments as it relates to the operation of the building to ensure that any questions in these areas are addressed. The incumbent will be required to be physically fit, use step ladders, and lift 30 lbs. Staff perform a variety of routine tasks requiring light, medium, and heavy physical effort in cleaning and caring for assigned areas in the Burchfield Penney Art Center and adjacent grounds/sidewalks. They will have experience in all relevant equipment including auto scrubbers, floor scrubber/polisher, carpet cleaner, weed trimmer, lawn mower, and snowblower. This position will be part-time working approximately 20-25 hours per week and may require working weekends or during evening events as part of their weekly schedule. This will require flexibility to work overtime, when necessary.
Essential Functions:
Cleaning of the Building and Grounds - 90% (Variable)
General Cleaning:
Sweeping/mopping floors, stairs, and stairwells, and vacuuming carpets and area rugs. Washing walls, windows (inside or outside), railings, and window frames.
Restrooms:
clean surfaces, mirrors, shower, urinals, toilets, tile floors, and walls. Replenish hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towel. Remove waste and replace bags.
Public Spaces:
Clean floors, surfaces, walls, glass, and furniture. Remove waste and replace bags.
Office & Common Areas:
Dusting, cleaning walls, office spaces, kitchens, and kitchenettes
Trash & Waste Management:
Collecting, transporting, and disposing of trash, recyclables, and compost.
Special Tasks:
May include replacing light bulbs, dusting or washing light fixtures, vents, upper wall surfaces, cleaning and polishing furniture and stainless equipment, event set-up assistance, lawn mowing, trimming, and salting/snow removal. Spring cleaning may include carpet shampooing, Terrazzo refinishing, linoleum stripping/waxing, pressure washing, etc.
Safety & Compliance:
Wearing appropriate protective clothing and equipment, and reporting maintenance or supply issues to your supervisor. General Museum and Gallery Participation - 10% (Variable) Assist with events and special programs as needed.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
2-4 years cleaning experience. Experience using power cleaning equipment; floor scrubbers, etc. Ability to be flexible and work some evenings or weekends as scheduled.
Compensation:
The Burchfield Penney Art Center is committed to fair, competitive, and industry-informed pay for our employees. The wage range for this position is$18-22 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits available to part-time staff include sick time, 401K with matching contributions, and others as determined by Management.
