A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
To maintain a clean and safe environment, perform assigned custodial tasks effectively and efficiently. Address and resolve concerns promptly and with professionalism. Monitor supply inventory and maintenance needs. Oversee and coordinate trash pickups to ensure timely and efficient waste management. Remove and store seating as required for events and facility operations. Conduct equipment maintenance as needed to ensure functionality and safety. Replace the letters on the theater marquee as needed (multiple times a week). Training provided. Polishing. Bathroom maintenance for public and staff facilities. Concession area maintenance and cleaning, both front and back of the house. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and cleanliness protocols. Assist theater staff with cleaning between showtimes. Help staff receive shipments, and unpack contents, dispose of shipping materials. Maintain the parking lot by keeping it clean, picking up trash, painting parking spots, and ensuring it is safe. Perform light gardening tasks, including trimming plants, maintaining flower beds, and mowing lawns to enhance the facility's appearance. Coordinate with HVAC and other vendors who oversee and maintain the various systems on the property. Schedule service visits. Oversee such service visits on behalf of the theater.
Physical Requirements:
As part of this role, you will frequently: Stand, walk, and use your hands to perform tasks, including reaching with arms to access materials or equipment. Communicate effectively with team members and management. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to perform maintenance or cleaning tasks. Lift heavy items as needed. Utilize visual abilities, including close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in custodial services or a related field. Strong knowledge of tools. Strong communication and teamwork skills to promote collaboration and efficiency. Ability to multitask and remain calm in high-pressure situations. Knowledge of safety protocols and cleaning standards, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Proficiency in handyman-type work, including minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
