A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located at our main campus in Red Hook, NY, this position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of all flatware, dishes, pots and pans, and the kitchen in general, including understanding and maintaining the dish machine, and discarding garbage and recycling. This position will assist in inventory organization and rotation, making sure waste is at a minimum. The Porter will deliver goods to other departments or residences as needed, as well as assist the kitchen staff with light food preparation as needed.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION
High School Diploma/GED preferred
EXPERIENCE
Preferred one year experience in an institutional setting.
