What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

2nd shift (8-hours a day with overtime potential) Essential functions of the job include:- Be responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility; providing arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events.
- Requires manual work relating to, but not limited to, performing general cleaning and routine maintenance tasks.
For example:
remove/dispose of trash from classrooms, cleaning offices, restrooms and other designated areas, restocking of paper and soap supplies, and other duties assigned.- The position requires routine execution of simple established cleaning tasks. General maintenance tasks, organizing, safety inspections, and awareness of safety concerns of property and building, as well as students.
- Must include willingness to work with others, including students, teachers and other staff, and having a positive attitude, is a plus.
- Receives and completes work orders for issues in your area for safety, maintenance and assistance.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes, crates, bags, etc.
- On call to respond to building emergencies.
- Make and document regular safety inspections of equipment.
- Complete assigned custodial & maintenance areas tasks.
- Assist the food service department in putting away supplies and checking inventory.
- Other duties assigned by Director of Maintenance & Transportation.
- Overtime opportunities are available and positions may include occasional Saturday hours for setup for sporting events and school activities on some occasions throughout the year.
- Must have the ability/flexibility to drive a school bus route if needed as a sub on a limited basis.
