Job Description

Job Overview We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Custodian who takes pride in keeping our facility clean, safe, and ready for the people who work here every day. Duties General Cleaning:
Perform daily cleaning of common areas, restrooms, hallways, administrative offices, and other assigned spaces.
Floor Maintenance:
Sweep, mop; ensure all floors are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
Waste Management:
Empty trash bins, dispose of waste, and ensure proper handling and recycling of materials.
Sanitization:
Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles and light switches, to maintain hygiene and reduce the spread of illness.
Restroom Maintenance:
Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.).
Supply Management:
Monitor and report inventory of cleaning supplies, including soaps, detergents, disinfectants, and other materials; order replacements as needed.
Security Awareness:
Follow facility security protocols at all times, ensuring safety and compliance with rules and regulations. Work closely with security staff to maintain order and security during cleaning tasks.
Emergency Response:
Assist with emergency clean-up tasks in response to incidents, such as spills or accidents, ensuring a prompt and safe resolution.
Maintenance Assistance:
Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as light bulb replacements, basic repairs, and upkeep of equipment and tools.
Other Duties:
Perform other custodial or facility-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management team.
Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred, especially in a correctional or institutional setting.
Skills:
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safe handling procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Ability to lift 25 pounds, carry heavy items and perform physical tasks. Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and carry cleaning supplies and equipment. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Security Clearance:
Must pass a criminal background check. Working Conditions The Custodian will work in a correctional facility environment, where safety and security are top priorities. The position may require working evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on the facility's schedule.
