A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Compensation:
$19.54 - $24.75 - New hires will be placed at Step 1 through 9 dependent on prior contracted educational experience. Employees in qualifying positions will receive a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision and will receive contributions to their PERS retirement accounts. Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment in school housekeeping and ability to use them with skill and efficiency.
  • Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
  • Skill in the use of electrical and hand appliances ordinarily used in housekeeping activities.
  • Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to structures and equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical strength to withstand the strain of performing eight hours of manual tasks.
  • High moral standards and character necessary for association with children.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, students and general public.
  • Preferably six months of experience in work relating to the care of school buildings and grounds
  • Ability to understand, interpret and follow instructions.
  • Ability to use email desired.
