A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Hours:

2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Qualifications

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Ability to perform physical work, including lifting heavy objects up to 40 pounds

Enjoy working around kids and works well with others.

Personal integrity, effective communication,

One year of experience in a custodial position is preferred.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Possesses knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.

Duties (not limited to):

Keep the school and its grounds in a safe, clean, sanitary, and satisfactory condition.

Sweep, polish, and refinish floors

Vacuum and shampoo carpets, upholstered furniture, and drapes

Remove marks from floors, walls, partitions, doors, and lockers

Clean and disinfect all wash basins, urinals, commodes, and seats

Disinfect high-use areas on a regular basis. (fountains, doorknobs, switches, tables, etc.)

Polish all mirrors, frames, faucets, and flush valves.
