A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Paid Training Assignments:
SCSEP matches eligible jobseekers with local nonprofits and public agencies (such as day care centers, senior centers, schools, and hospitals) for paid training assignments.
Benefits:
  • Gain work experience that you can add to your résumé.
  • Receive on-the-job training in new computer or vocational skills.
  • Get professional job placement assistance to find full-time or part-time employment.
  • Work an average of 20 hours per week.
  • Eligibility:
    To apply for a training assignment, you must be age 55 or older, unemployed, and living on a limited income.
