A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Under general supervision, performs necessary duties to keep assigned buildings and/or areas in clean, neat and orderly condition. Performs various other activities as assigned. Clears snow and ice from, but not limited to, stairs, walks, driveways and College roads either manually or using motorized equipment. Performs necessary repairs and routine and planned maintenance on custodial equipment. It is the policy of Juniata College to conduct background checks. Supervision Required/Given Oral and/or written instructions received from designated supervisor. Employees in this classification have no supervisory duties.
