The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for employees, visitors, and guests. This role performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance tasks to ensure facilities meet cleanliness, safety, and operational standards. The Custodian supports daily operations by ensuring all areas are well maintained and presentable. Duties Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors; shampoo carpets as needed Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly Refill restrooms and common areas with necessary supplies (paper products, soap, etc.) Clean windows, mirrors, fixtures, and surfaces Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety issues and report concerns promptly Set up and break down rooms for events, meetings, or activities as assigned Use cleaning tools, equipment, and chemicals safely and according to instructions Follow established safety, sanitation, and infectioncontrol procedures Secure buildings by locking doors and ensuring areas are orderly at the end of shifts Support special cleaning projects as assigned (deep cleaning, seasonal tasks) Requirements Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment according to instructions Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and safety practices Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and timemanagement skills Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays if needed
