Primary Purpose:

Supervise the campus/department custodial operations. Establish and follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Direct and monitor the work of custodians at assigned campus/department.

2. Participate in the interviewing, screening, and selection of candidates of custodial positions.

3. Direct and assist in setting up facilities for special events.

4. Implement and maintain established cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.

5. Keep school building and assist in keeping grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play grounds, neat and clean.

6. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and chemicals.

7. Support and conduct continuous training on custodial maintenance program at campus level.

8. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies as needed.

9. Assist with the lunchroom set up of tables and chairs only.

10. Implement efficient practices in the usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

11. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to principal.

12. Occasionally moving furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal.

13. Assume responsibility for opening and closing building each school day.

14. Oversee procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.

15. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic buttons are working properly during hours of building occupancy.

16. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.

17. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

18. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

19. Correct unsafe conditions in work areas and report, immediately, any conditions that are not correctable to the campus principal. 20. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by principal/custodial director related to custodial duties.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma, GED from a school recognized by the Texas Education Agency/ Texas Private School Accreditation Commission

Two years of experience in custodial services.

Educational qualifications may be waived pursuant to administrative regulations for internal applicants.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.

Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building maintenance.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.

Ability to properly maintain a campus cleaning supplies inventory.

Ability to supervise and treat all persons with dignity and respect.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Monitor and direct the work of custodians.

Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum, carpet vacuum cleaner, electric drill, shampooer,

Reel Touchless System and rider floor machines

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Prolonged walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying items.

Work inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders.

Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials.

Working prolonged or irregular hours, nights, weekends
