Job Description

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at the Maintenance Building. This position is for 5.75 hours per day, 12 months per year.

Purpose Statement

The position of Part-time Custodian was created to assist with the cleaning of schools and other District facilities; providing assistance to teachers, students and staff as directed by the Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary to Performance of Essential Functions

  • Must be at least 16 years old. If over age 18 and/or graduated from High School, must pay for and pass district background check.
  • Must be clean and neat in appearance and in personal habits.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs without difficulty.
  • Must be able to clean assigned areas of the building.
  • Must be able to wear and use a backpack vacuum, this requires frequent twisting and bending.
  • Must be loyal and able to keep confidences.
  • Must be able to assist with grounds care and snow removal as assigned.
  • Must agree to attend in-person district Part-time Custodial training course (NCOT).
  • Must dress appropriately which includes school dress code plus proper foot wear such as closed toe shoes.
  • Must use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses as required.
  • May be assigned to secure the building at the end of the working shift and accept responsibility for that assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision and hours worked for this position

Supervision for this position will be provided primarily by the Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian. The Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian is responsible for ongoing training. Part-time custodians are not authorized or permitted to train other part-time custodians. All questions, requests for time off or training requests should be referred to the Head or Assistant Head Custodian. The school Principal or building administrator has supervision over all school employees.

Hours for this position are subject to change depending on individual building needs, activities, but are generally from 8:00 am- 1:30 pm.
