SUMMARY:
The Custodian performs tasks to assist in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment. This position is designated as "Essential Personnel", which requires that employees report to their job site during emergency situations, such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations, unless otherwise indicated by the Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks: Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purposes of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and special events. Cleans assigned school facilities (i.e. classrooms, offices, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment. Inspects school facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc. Maintains supplies and equipment (i.e. cleaning solutions, paper products, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly maintain facilities. Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (i.e. facility damage, injured and/or ill students/employees, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment. Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to organization. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Principal.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Candidate must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to get along well with others.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school preferred; Ability to read basic operating instructions and; Has some custodial cleaning experience or the ability to be trained in these areas.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
