What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
The Lowell Graded School has a Head Daytime Custodian position vacancy for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. The position will work with administration in ensuring a safe and clean learning environment in and around school grounds and oversee the infrastructure, maintenance, and repairs.
Experience with maintenance and custodial tasksb.
Knowledge of facilities management in at least one of the following areas preferred: HVAC systemsPublic bid processProject specifications & general contracting/buildingPlumbing and electrical repairs and upkeep3.Ability to perform manual labor and meet physical demands of the job including but not limited to: Ability to climb ladders and scaffoldsAbility to lift and carry heavy objects4.Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills are crucial.5.Knowledge or willingness to learn Vermont state regulations for schools around facilities and safety.6.Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, adaptability, and dependability.7.Maintains standards of confidentiality in the community 8.Computer skills with competency in Google platforms.

Salary & Benefits:
as per Support Staff Collective Agreement. Hourly rate range between $21.35 and $24.00, depending on previous experience.
