JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
This position is hired by the Fairgrounds Site Management Group (FSMG) at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds. This position is under the immediate direction of and reports to the Assistant Director of Operations (ADO). The Operations Lead is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt position responsible for: Prioritizing and leading work of Event Operations Staff Members as per the instruction of the ADO or event managers. Assists with the operation, maintenance, customer service, repair and janitorial needs for the Clark County Fairgrounds. Duties include but are not limited to preparing buildings and grounds for events, cleaning and repairing buildings, grounds after events, providing support during events as well as providing maintenance, repair and janitorial services throughout the year. These positions work with chemical cleaners, disinfectants and deodorizers; operate pressure washers, scrubbers and sprayers and drive county owned equipment such as pickup trucks, tractors, and mowers. The Operations Lead will work as part of a team to lead and work alongside temporary staff and contractors during events. The work involves moderate to heavy lifting (50-100 lbs.) and may require working at heights up to 40 feet. Incumbent may be required to work varying shift schedules depending on event needs to provide quality support and customer service.
KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure Clark County Fairgrounds are safe for all occupants at an awareness level with ability to report deficiencies immediately for evaluation and repair. Lead/train teams of employees ranging from 2-25 employees to carry out directives from management during fair or events. Assists the ADO in identifying and scheduling labor resources for all operations needs of the work group to include the support of events, general maintenance and the Clark County Fair. Coordinate and perform the janitorial service as needed throughout the Clark County Fairgrounds. Operate machinery and equipment used to perform preparation of grounds and buildings in support of events, to include and not limited to tractors, sweepers, scrubbers, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles, water trucks, personnel lifts, forklifts and any other equipment as needed. Recognizing and reporting any maintenance needs to your supervisor for evaluation and repair for County buildings, which may include fire alarms, fire sprinkler alarms, water leaks, and any emergency requiring County presence. Responds to requests from Director of Operations, ADO and Event Managers for support and assistance with event setup/tear-down. Performs related maintenance support tasks as requested and as necessary. Support, train and mentor all Event Operations Staff members for successful accomplishment of assigned tasks and responsibilities. Clean and sanitize restrooms before and during events. Follow and carry out assigned weekly schedule. Dispose of trash and mixed recycling throughout the grounds. Set up exhibition hall for events with tables, chairs, portable walls, pipe and drape according to what is required in an Event Service Order. Clean equestrian stalls after events. Set up directional signage for events. Ensure buildings and gates are locked prior to leaving during normal business hours and at the end of events. Install or move portable livestock equipment including corral panels and gates, equine stalls, tents, etc. Other duties as assigned or needed (i.e. cleaning equestrian area, able to help in any position required from a subordinate role).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent teamwork and communication skills with proven record working with a wide variety of people in different situations. Will be required to work flexible schedules, extended hours, evenings and weekends to match event schedules and needs. Ability to take direction from upper management and lead a team of 2-25 employees. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to requests. Ability to multi-task and balance priorities. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision Ability to utilize computer software and hardware. During the Clark County Fair, maintain the ability to work for at least 10 days in a row from Fair opening hours to closing. Work overtime when necessary, during the Clark County Fair. Possession of a valid driver's license.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
