What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Distinguishing Characteristics:
- Maintains cleanliness of offices, classrooms, hallways, training spaces, outdoor café, and bathrooms. Occasionally uses floor cleaning machine and buffer.
- Campus service workers must report to work 30 minutes prior to any delayed college opening.
- This position is an Emergency Employee position and is required to report to work as needed during inclement weather or building closures.
- Requires dependable transportation and must be able to arrive at the assigned place of work during inclement weather.
- Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
- Experience with general housekeeping preferred.
- Positive communication and interpersonal skills; ability to forge positive work partnerships.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of rapid growth and change.
- Must be detail and deadline oriented.
- Ability to work independently yet collaborate in a team environment.
- Ability to work as a team player, appropriately exhibiting a positive attitude and the ability to not only accept, but flourish in an environment characterized by multiple complex factors, competing priorities, ambiguous situations, and resource challenges. Licensure/Certification Required
