As a Kitchen Helper, you will assist with food handling, meal assembly, and maintaining safety standards to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional customer experiences. Responsibilities Assist with food preparation tasks including slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques. Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients, assembling meals, and ensuring food production meets quality standards. Operate food preparation equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety standards in production. Handle manual tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies and ingredients while maintaining proper manual handling techniques. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including food handling stations and storage spaces. Follow strict food safety protocols, including proper food handling, sanitation practices, and safety standards in production. Support catering events or large meal productions by assisting with setup, serving, and cleanup as needed. Contribute to sensory evaluation of dishes to ensure flavor consistency and quality control. Provide excellent customer service by supporting front-of-house staff during busy service times when required. Experience Previous food service experience in a restaurant or catering environment is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of basic math for portioning and ingredient measurements. Familiarity with food safety management practices and safe operation of kitchen equipment. Experience with heavy lifting and manual handling in a fast-paced setting. Culinary experience including knife skills, slicing techniques, and food preparation methods. Knowledge of food industry standards related to sanitation, safety standards in production, and proper food handling procedures. Prior kitchen or restaurant experience that showcases your ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
