We are a mission-driven school lunch catering company providing nutritious, high-quality meals to local Montessori and early education programs. We are looking for a reliable, early-rising team member to join our kitchen.
Position Overview:
We're looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Prep Chef to join our kitchen team. The Prep Chef is responsible for supporting daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean workspace, and assisting with food production to ensure smooth service. This role is key to maintaining consistency, quality, and efficiency in every dish we serve. Key Responsibilities Prepare ingredients according to recipes and specifications (e.g., washing, chopping, measuring, and portioning). Cook or assemble food components as directed by the Head Chef. Label, date, and store food items properly to maintain freshness and prevent waste. Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, refrigerators, and storage areas. Follow all food safety and sanitation standards (including HACCP or local health regulations). Assist in receiving and stocking deliveries, ensuring accuracy and freshness of inventory. Support the culinary team during service by refilling stations, plating, or other tasks as needed. Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth operations during prep and service. Qualifications Prior kitchen or food prep experience preferred Strong understanding of basic kitchen practices, knife skills, and food safety. Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
