SHJC is located in the hills of Los Gatos in the Santa Clara Valley and serves as the retirement community for the west coast Jesuit brothers and priests.
Reports To:
Director of Food Services Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clean and put away all dirty dishes, pot and pans.
- Sort and empty trash and recycling. Break down boxes.
- Stock the infirmary dining rooms with necessary dishes, utensils and supplies.
- Complete general cleaning as necessary during the daily routine.
- Keep all equipment clean and areas stocked with necessary cleaning supplies
- Keep all storage areas, refrigerator and freezers clean.
- Transport meals to infirmary at appropriate times and ensure all food and utensils are available for each meal.
- Help set up and clean all dining rooms before, after and during meals.
- Help set up and break down salad bar and buffet. Refill items as needed.
- Prepare coffee and stock all drink areas.
- Help prepare food items under chef supervision including chopping, grating, mixing.
- Help Jesuits as needed while dining.
- Communicate with other staff members to ensure smooth kitchen and dining operations.
- Follow supervisors' instructions as needed.
- Maintain a professional manner, extend courtesy and respect towards residents, coworkers and visitors.
- Understands and demonstrates knowledge of the SHJC handbook and policies.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Some kitchen experience a plus. Must complete food safety courses. Must be able to communicate and relate well with elderly residents. Must be able to follow directions well and have a desire to learn new skills. Must be willing to work assigned shifts/days including weekends. Has visual and auditory acuity, articulate clearly and have physical ability and stamina required for reaching, walking, pushing, lifting (50 lbs.), climbing and stooping.Job Type:
