The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sushi preparation, culinary arts, and food safety standards. This role involves creating authentic sushi dishes, menu planning, and maintaining high-quality food presentation in a fine dining environment. The Sushi Chef will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests while adhering to all food handling and safety regulations. Responsibilities Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, artistry, and consistency. Develop and plan sushi menus that align with restaurant standards and customer preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, ensuring compliance with food safety protocols. Handle all aspects of food preparation including slicing, rolling, and plating sushi items. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking. Ensure all food handling practices meet health department regulations and safety standards. Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service times. Assist in training junior staff or apprentices in sushi techniques and kitchen procedures. Uphold the restaurant's reputation for quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications Proven experience in sushi preparation, fine dining, or culinary arts within the food industry. Strong knife skills and expertise in food handling, cooking, and meal preparation. Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and catering is highly desirable. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices. Previous restaurant experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi is preferred. Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and ability to work efficiently under pressure. Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Culinary certification or relevant training is a plus but not mandatory.
