Job Overview We are on the lookout for a passionate and detail-oriented Sushi Helper to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will be a key player in supporting the preparation and presentation of sushi and other Japanese dishes. Your enthusiasm for food, combined with your ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment, will help ensure our guests enjoy fresh, beautifully crafted meals. Duties Assist in preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques. Support the kitchen team with food preparation tasks such as rice cooking, ingredient portioning, and assembling sushi rolls according to recipes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring all food safety standards are met during food handling and storage. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, rice cookers, and refrigeration units. Help with general cleaning duties to uphold hygiene standards in the kitchen area. Follow recipe adherence and ensure consistent quality in meal preparation. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy service times. Requirements Prior experience in food industry roles such as dietary aide, dietary department, or restaurant service is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of food safety management and handling practices is essential. Experience with menu planning, food preparation, and catering is a plus. Strong knife skills and slicing techniques are highly desirable. Ability to follow safety standards in production environments while maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and team members. Enthusiasm for learning culinary techniques related to sushi preparation and food industry best practices.
