Bentley Community Schools is a thriving K-12 school district located in the City of Burton, Michigan. We serve approximately 700 students across four schools fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all.JOB SUMMARY
The Food Service Substitute will assist in all aspects of the food service operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that nutritious, appetizing, and safe meals are provided to students and staff.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Participate in ongoing training on food safety and operational procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in food service preparation, preferably in a school or institutional setting
- Serve Safe certified preferred or willing to take the course
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and technology
- Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Creativity and a collaborative spirit

- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Stamina to stand for extended periods and perform task requiring manual dexterity
- Ability to speak and hear clearly to communicate effectively with students, families and staff
- Basic technology skills including email, office software and texting
- Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and make sound decisions
