Full Job Description About Hope Faith:
Hope Faith, with its mission pillars of Care, Rest, and Work, is the only low-barrier Homelessness Assistance Campus in Greater Kansas City. Founded in 2004, Hope Faith's fundamental principle is to help our homeless guests reclaim their dignity and stability through mental, emotional, and spiritual support. We serve all people without hesitation or reservation, guided by our values of providing Care, Rest, and Work. ​Hope Faith-Homeless Assistance Campus works to alleviate homelessness and poverty in Kansas City, Missouri, by providing basic necessities and assistance, as well as providing critical services and programs to empower individuals experiencing homelessness and at-risk individuals to become self-sufficient and independent. Hope Faith is a non-denominational, Christian-based organization that accomplishes this mission through a variety of programs and services.​​​
Overview:
The Floater is responsible for being the first impression for all of our guests coming to the kitchen for meals as well as assisting Guest Services with mail service needs. S/he will be responsible for portioning out the meal being served, ensuring communication with the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef when food is running low, providing quality customer service to guests coming through the line, and sorting, putting away/distributing mail in Guest Services.
Job Responsibilities:
Kitchen 70% Greet guests, answer questions, and have excellent customer service skills Prepare plates according to portion standards and guidelines as determined by the Executive Chef Communicate when food is getting low/if we will not have enough to finish out a meal service time Clean the service line and equipment Assist with making coffee as needed Ensure that the food wells in the steam table have an adequate amount of water in them Communicate safety issues in the window with the Executive Chef to handle with security Work with other kitchen staff and kitchen volunteers to ensure quality service for guests Maintain a positive and upbeat attitude Ensure that food is being served in accordance with health code standards established by the Kansas City Health Department Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized according to KC Health Department standards Assist with wiping tables and chairs down in the Dining Hall as needed Attend weekly team meetings Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef Guest Services 30% Assist with sorting incoming mail, putting it in assigned boxes, and distributing it to guests Renew guest mail contracts as necessary Pull the mail from expired boxes, mark as return to sender, and turn it into the Front Office Administrator Assist with showers as necessary
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Current Food Handlers/Food Managers License or Serve Safe Certification Have the ability to work with the homeless demographic and able to deliver and exceed the expectations of a highly demanding clientele Able to professionally interact with guests suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues Positive, honest, and energetic work ethic Valid Driver's License Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and campus personnel and guests. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
