Job Description

The Opportunity Platz Beer Garden is a one-of-a-kind gathering place in the heart of downtown Keene, NH, built inside a beautifully restored 150-year-old High Victorian Gothic church steps from Central Square. With roughly 20 rotating taps, curated wines, German-inspired fare, live music, and a restored sanctuary that seats up to 150, Platz is something Keene has never seen before. We operate as a cashless and tipless establishment, paying our team fair living wages and creating a transparent, respectful workplace. We believe hospitality done right starts from the inside out. The Floor Person is often the first person a guest meets at Platz. You set the tone for the room. Someone walks into a 150-year-old church for the first time, takes it all in, and then looks around for a sign of what to do next. You are that sign. You make them feel expected rather than lost, and you keep the space clean, stocked, and welcoming while they are here. What This Role Actually Is This is a hospitality and support role, not a server role. You will not have tables or sections, you will not take orders, and you will not carry a check. Guests order at a kiosk or on their phones through Toast, and you help them do that easily. It is also a hands-on job. You will wipe down tables, restock the condiment station, keep popcorn going, help sort compost, help the bar and sometimes the kitchen when they need it. On a busy night you will do all of it in the same shift. If you want a role where you are constantly moving, constantly useful, and talking to people all night, this is a good one. If you are looking for a traditional serving job with tips, this is not that. What You'll Do Welcome the room Greet guests as they arrive and check back with them through their visit. Answer questions about the menu, how our process works for ordering food and drinks, what is happening that week, and the building itself. People will ask about the building. Help guests order, whether they are at the kiosk or using Toast on their phone. Some will need a hand with the technology, and some will just want a recommendation. Read the room and step in before someone has to look for help. Keep the space right Wipe down tables and keep the entry and seating areas clean and organized. Keep the condiment station stocked, tidy, and ready. Keep popcorn available throughout service, popping more as needed, restocking supplies, and cleaning the machine. Monitor the compost and trash stations, keep items sorted correctly, and empty bins before they overflow. Maintain clean and well stocked restrooms. Restock and reset the front of house so the room looks as good at nine as it did at five. Support the team Help the bar with what it needs that shift, which can mean restocking glassware and supplies. Help the kitchen wash dishes. What this looks like changes night to night. Support live music, festivals, and private events. Who You Are You are warm with people. Starting a conversation with a stranger does not cost you anything. You are reliable. You show up on time and your coworkers can count on you. You notice things. A full trash bin, an empty salt shaker, a table that needs to be wiped down, a guest who looks confused. You will do whatever the shift needs without being asked twice, and you do not consider any of it beneath you. You can juggle a few things at once without losing the thread. You are comfortable with technology, enough to help a guest through ordering on their phone. You can work evenings and weekends, including the seasonal peaks around Oktoberfest, Mardi Gras, festivals, and live music. Previous customer service, kitchen, or hospitality experience is welcome but not required. We can teach the tasks. We are hiring for attitude, energy, and reliability. What the Job Asks of You This is an active role and you will be on your feet for your full shift. You will bend, reach, lift, and carry throughout the night. You will work in moderate to loud noise in a busy yet casual room. Compensation and Benefits Pay. $15 to $18 per hour depending on experience. Predictable income. We are cashless and tipless. Your hourly rate is your pay, on every shift, in every season, with no tip pool and no competing for the good nights. Flexible hours. 15 to 30 hours per week, built to work around school, another job, or family. Training. Full training provided, plus room to grow into bar or kitchen roles if you want them. Discounts. Staff discounts on food, beverages, and merchandise. A real voice. Small, collaborative team with direct access to leadership, in a building people will be talking about for years to come.
