POSITION SUMMARY
THIS
POSITION HAS A LIMITED DURATION. AN EXTENSION MAY BE OFFERED IF FUNDING IS AVAILABLE.
The Kitchen Helper is responsible for standard food service work including sanitation duties, and various serving responsibilities. The Kitchen Helper has knowledge of proper food handling procedures and government regulations regarding the food code. May help with grocery selection, storage, maintenance as well as cooking preparation. The ideal candidate will have the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware. Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage. Portion and wrap the food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons. Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers.
• Prepare a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, or desserts, according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The kitchen worker must have moderate understanding and knowledge of kitchen operations. Must be able to read and write daily logs. Must posses a Food Handlers Safety Card.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
HS Diploma or GED. Must have 0-1 years of experience in working in a commercial kitchen.
Language Skills:
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Must have proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, spelling words, rules of composition, and grammar. Spanish speaking individuals are preferred. The ideal candidate for this position must have a good understanding of diversity and cultural awareness.
Mathematical Skills :
Ability to apply basic mathematics to accurately monitor budgets.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency in working with specific computer software such as spreadsheets, word processing, and database management is required. Knowledge of human resource systems and the Internet are also required in order to perform this job successfully. Proficiency in the use of computers and all common office machines is required. Adequate typing skills are necessary for this position. Ability to work on multiple assignments and prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment. Strong client-service and results orientation. Must have strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate must maintain confidentiality.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
If an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check as well as pre-employment drug screening.

Employees work under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet.
Pay:
$12.00 - $15.00 per hour
