Come do good work with us! The Health & Human Services Department consists of four unique divisions; Barron Center, Elder Affairs, Public Health, and Social Services. We strive to enhance the health and well-being of the residents of Portland in collaboration with our community, state, and federal partners.
Job Summary:
The Barron Center is a long-term care facility with an excellent reputation for fostering a caring and creative work environment. We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team who want to make a difference in their community and our residents' lives. Our Nutrition Services department has opportunities available for general kitchen support.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Tray set-up for individual residents Dish washing Additional food service and preparation related tasks
Required Skills & Experience:
High School completion is required. Prior experience in a food service environment is preferred. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions Must possess valid Maine Class C driver's license
Expected Hours/Schedule:
Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday, Thursday through Sunday, and rotating holidays. Scheduled hours are 6:45am-2:45pm. Applications accepted until May 29, 2026. The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment physical exam. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position
  • CEBA, Grade 1M
  • Starting pay rate is between $18.72
  • $21.
