Tokyo Express Tokyo Express is a locally operated Japanese restaurant in Greenville, TX. We are looking for a dependable and motivated Sushi Chef to join our team. What We Offer Flexible scheduling Stable and consistent work Hands-on sushi training Friendly, team-oriented environment Opportunity for increased hours and responsibility as you progress Employee meals/discounts As a Sushi Chef, you will help prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other menu items while maintaining our standards for quality, consistency, speed, and presentation. We are willing to train the right candidate. Previous kitchen or sushi experience is preferred, but reliability, willingness to learn, and the ability to work efficiently are especially important. Responsibilities Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other menu items Prepare and portion fish, vegetables, sauces, and other ingredients Cook and properly season sushi rice Follow recipes and portion standards for consistency Maintain a clean and organized sushi station Properly store and rotate seafood and other ingredients Restock and prepare ingredients for service Monitor ingredient levels and communicate restocking needs Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards Work efficiently during busy lunch and dinner periods Maintain consistent food quality and presentation Assist with opening, closing, and cleaning duties Qualifications Sushi or restaurant kitchen experience preferred Training available for the right candidate Basic knife skills preferred Ability to learn recipes and preparation procedures Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety Dependable and punctual Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to stand for extended periods Available to work some evenings, Fridays, and Saturdays Schedule Tokyo Express is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM-9:00 PM and closed Sundays. New hires may begin with part-time or peak-hour shifts while training, with the opportunity to move into a more consistent/full-time schedule as proficiency increases. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who wants to learn, improve, and become a reliable long-term member of our kitchen team. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, handles busy periods well, and can eventually operate the sushi station independently.
