POSITION SUMMARY - FOOD PREP
At Aubergine Kitchen, the Food Prep is the one who ensures everything starts off right. They are responsible for preparing the ingredients that serve as the foundation of our dishes, focusing on quality, freshness, and organization from the start of the day. With attention to detail, speed, and commitment, the Food Prep keeps the kitchen stocked and ready for efficient service. Their work is essential to ensure consistency, flavor, and speed in every meal served, being the first step in delighting our customers with excellence.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
At Aubergine Kitchen, the Food Prep is responsible for preparing the ingredients that are the base of our dishes. Their work ensures the kitchen is fully prepared so service can flow with speed, flavor, and quality. With attention to detail, discipline, and collaboration, the Food Prep handles food from cutting to storage, following our safety and hygiene standards.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares ingredients according to instructions from the General Manager or shift leaders. Prepares a variety of sauces and dressings following company recipes. Washes, peels, chops, and slices vegetables with precision and care. Uses kitchen equipment like knives, food processors, and blenders safely and effectively. Properly organizes and rotates food items (FIFO - First In, First Out). Seasons and mixes specific salads as instructed. Strictly follows all company recipes and portioning guidelines. Ensures consistent flavor, appearance, and quality in all prepared items. Informs managers if any recipe ingredients or instructions are unclear or incorrect. Labels all products with date and name, following store labeling standards. Keeps the workstation clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards. Assists with unloading, checking, and properly storing ingredients and supplies. Strictly follows hygiene, safety, and proper food handling procedures. Performs other related tasks as assigned by leadership.TEAMWORK WITH A CUSTOMER FOCUS
At Aubergine Kitchen, we are all responsible for providing an excellent customer experience. In addition to your daily tasks, in this position you may also be asked to assist in other areas or tasks during busy times or downtime, such as: Clearing bowls and utensils from tables after use.• Helping clean and organize the dining area (tables, chairs, floor). Restocking disposable utensils, napkins, and bags at the self-service station. Supporting the team or other departments when needed, always keeping the focus on customer satisfaction.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Basic knowledge or willingness to learn about hygiene, safety, and sanitation. Skills or interest in learning food cutting, portioning, and preparation techniques. Speed and efficiency in performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow instructions carefully and consistently. Good collaboration and communication with the kitchen team. Reliability with punctuality, organization, and personal hygiene. Ability to stay focused and maintain quality under pressure. Speed and attention to detail in food preparation. Growth mindset, motivation, and accuracy. Quick learner in a dynamic environment. Adaptability to new processes and systems.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or technical/vocational training in basic kitchen practices, such as food safety, is a plus. Previous relevant experience is preferred. Must present Food Handler certification within 14 days of hiring.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Available to work 30 to 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. Willingness to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, and carry items up to 50 lbs (approx. 22 kg). Kitchen experience is preferred but not required. Ability to keep the kitchen clean and organized.Job Types:
