CHILD NUTRITION ASSISTANT
Lake Tapps Elementary 2.5 HOURS
PER DAY/5 DAYS PER WEEK
The Child Nutrition Assistant is responsible for supporting the food service department by assisting in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition for children. This position involves receiving, storing, and managing food supplies, preparing a variety of meals, and maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas. The assistant will work closely with kitchen staff to meet meal projections, serve food, and monitor food allergens to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive, check, and store incoming food and supplies. Perform various tasks in food preparation and services, including salad and sandwich preparation. Assist in cooking and preparing meals, for the purpose of meeting meal projections and meal requirements. Prepare and serve ala carte meals. Assist in stocking areas, including salad bars, utensils, and milk fridge. Serve food along meal lines. Clean dishes, cooking utensils, equipment, lunchroom, and kitchen for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions. Review product ingredients, especially in regard to the 9 main food allergens. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in food preparation to include cooking and baking which included acquiring and applying nutritional knowledge. Ability to communicate and maintain good working relations with other employees, students, community representatives, and school staff. Valid state food handler's certification or ability to obtain one.
