In this dynamic role, you'll combine lifesaving skills with teaching prowess to promote water safety, develop swimming abilities, and foster confidence in our members. Whether supervising pool activities or instructing swimming lessons, your enthusiasm will inspire a love for water and healthy activity. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact while honing your coaching and lifeguarding skills in a lively, supportive setting. Duties Monitor pool areas continuously to ensure the safety of all swimmers, enforcing rules and responding swiftly to emergencies using AED (Automated External Defibrillator) operation and first aid/CPR techniques. Lead engaging swimming lessons tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers, incorporating sports-specific training instruction such as soccer coaching or basketball drills when appropriate. Conduct water safety demonstrations and educate participants on proper swimming techniques, behavior management, and emergency procedures. Supervise recreational swim sessions, organized swim classes, and special events, ensuring a fun yet safe environment for children and adults alike. Collaborate with team members to develop effective coaching plans for sports-specific activities like cheerleading or climbing exercises that promote physical fitness and teamwork. Maintain accurate records of attendance, safety incidents, and progress reports for all participants. Communicate clearly with clients regarding pool rules, lesson schedules, safety protocols, and feedback to enhance their experience. Skills Proven lifeguard experience with current certification in AED operation, first aid, and CPR. Strong swimming ability with proficiency in teaching swimming techniques across different age groups. Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings; familiarity with childcare is a plus. Background in sports coaching or sports-specific training instruction such as soccer coaching or basketball is highly desirable. Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage behavior effectively. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, providing clear instructions and safety information. Knowledge of health club or gym environments; experience working with students in physical education or fitness programs enhances your candidacy. Ability to perform climbing activities safely when involved in certain recreational programs; experience in martial arts or cheerleading can be beneficial.
