POSITION SUMMARY
These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director and/or the Sr. Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the supervision and implementation of the group and private swim lesson programs, the management of daily operations, ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
1. Assist in oversight of group and private swim lesson program including scheduling, informing staff of schedules, and communicating with members. Supervise in the absence of the Aquatic Director. 2. Assist in supervision of group swim lesson program, swim instructors, lifeguards, aquatic volunteers, and pool areas as directed 3. Provide youth and adult group and private swim instruction as well as lifeguard coverage on a regularly scheduled basis and/or for emergency coverage 4. Provide quality water fitness instruction on a regularly scheduled basis and/or for emergency coverage. 5. Effectively resolve member and participant questions and complaints 6. Maintain registration process as well as class input into YMCA registration database 7. Maintain up-to-date and proper records, schedules and rosters for swim instruction program 8. Assist in the development and implementation of special events and new programs that meet the needs of our community 9. Attend staff meetings and required trainings as directed by supervisors 10. Maintain effective communication with members, staff, and supervisors 11. Build positive relationships with staff and members 12. Ensure all pool rules, regulations, standards of conduct, and staff performance agreements are followed 13. Maintain safety at all times; prevent injuries and eliminate hazardous situations; respond to all emergency situations 14. Participate in any Aquatic Department or Branch events, including the Annual Giving Campaign 15. Other duties as assigned by supervisorWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physically perform all skills required of an Aquatics Coordinator. Associates Degree in related field or equivalentCertifications:
Lifeguarding OR CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid certification Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent (American Red Cross, Star Fish, or teaching experience) Ability to teach water fitness classes (or willing to become an instructor upon hire) Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
