The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons using the aquatic facility. This position provides continuous surveillance of the pool area, enforces facility rules, responds to emergencies, and delivers excellent customer service. Lifeguards are expected to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while demonstrating professionalism and teamwork.
Major Responsibilities:

- Continuously ensure safety of lifeguard zone, Maintaining constant vigilance while on surveillance duty without distractions.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies using appropriate rescue techniques.
- Administer first aid, CPR, AED, and emergency care as required until additional medical assistance arrives.
- Enforce all pool rules and safety regulations in a fair, consistent, and professional manner.
- Conduct opening, closing, and routine safety inspections of the facility and equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance concerns to the Red shirt Lifeguard or supervisor.
- Complete incident and accident reports detailed, accurately and promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck, guard stations, restrooms, and surrounding facility areas.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to members and answer questions regarding facility rules and programs.
- Participate in all staff meetings, in-service trainings, emergency drills, and required certification updates.
- Assist with special events, swim tests, and aquatic programs as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the red shirt Lifeguard or Aquatics Supervisor.
Position Description Lifeguard Position Qualifications Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Strong swimming ability and physical fitness. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to remain alert, calm, and decisive during emergency situations. Physical Requirements/Demands of the position Ability to swim continuously for 200 yards and tread water without arms for 2 minutes. Ability to retrieve a 10 lb object from 8 feet depth of water and swim with it for 20 yards. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Visual and auditory ability to continuously monitor patron safety.
