Job Description

Join us! Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required. Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving. Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action. Attends all staff meetings and training as required. Ensures all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention. Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests. Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities. Phase Tread water for 2 minutes Swim 100 yards front crawl Phase Swim 50 yards(2 laps) of each stroke-Front crawl with head up, sidestroke, breaststroke, breaststroke with head up, elementary backstroke kick with hands on chest. Perform a feet first surface dive in 6-7 feet of water, then swim underwater for 15 feet
