High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred Qualifications:
Current Oxygen Administration, AED, Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and swim lesson instructor certifications a plus
Required Screenings:
Drug Testing/Screening; Background Checks (Level 2). Lifeguard (2 available) 1. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool. This includes responding to emergencies and administering CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen effectively according to certifications. Lifeguards must be alert and identifiable at all times and keep a professional appearance.
Duties:
Practice preventative lifeguarding by following and enforcing pool rules and policies promptly, and completes a routine check of pool and deck area regularly throughout their shift Provide undistracted supervision of the pool while on duty. Lifeguards will demonstrate vigilant scanning, 180 degrees, every 10 seconds checking the bottom, middle and top of their zone Understand and perform rescues and emergency procedures, document accidents on the proper forms and communicate to the Aquatic Director or designee as outlined in the EAP in a timely manner in accordance with aquatic, facility, certification policies and requirements Clean and store equipment in its proper place, ensuring the pool deck and surrounding areas are clean, free of clutter, trash etc. Engage in positive public relations with participants, members and guests ensuring a positive experience Maintains cleanliness and chemical balance of pool on appropriate recording forms. Report any concerns to the Aquatic Director or designee immediately Follows policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff; responds to emergency situations in accordance to facility policies and certification requirements Attend and actively participate in all trainings, staff meetings/in-services and guard drills as assigned Serves as role model in pool safety 2. The Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and in surrounding areas. This role helps create a safe and positive atmosphere that encourages member safety and engagement, in accordance with policies and procedures.
Duties:
Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service Responds to challenges with possible solutions Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with policies and procedures Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving Understand and promote all programs values Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness Swim Instructor (2 available) The Y is the nation's largest provider of swim lessons, dedicated to improving water safety and swimming skills for all ages. As a part-time Swim Instructor, you'll provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants in our swim classes. The job descriptions are the same for each available position.
Duties:
Teach swimming and water safety skills to students of varying ages and ability levels, from Parent/Child to Adult classes Instruct students in swimming and exercise fundamentals in accordance with standards Ensure technique, appropriate use of equipment, and a safe, engaging learning environment Comfortable working with participants of all ages and skill levels Ability to demonstrate swim instruction techniques and safely lift equipment and small-to-average-size children

Full & Part Time position. Flexible hours available, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends. Monday-Friday, between 5AM and 4PM. 5:00 AM
- 11:00 AM. 9:00 AM
- 2:30 PM. 11:00 AM
- 4:00 PM.

Pay:
$14 to $20 per hour; depends on experience. Benefits are offered.
