Job Description

Come work on the most beautiful beach in Vero! John's Island Club is seeking an experienced year-round, full-time Lifeguard to oversee our pristine beach and pool facilities. You will join a dedicated team with strong support from management, working together to keep our members safe and our facilities running smoothly. What You'll Do Supervise and observe all swimmers at the pool and beach, always ensuring their safety. Maintain situational awareness of ocean conditions, scanning for rip tides, currents, and hazards. Respond immediately to emergencies, performing rescues and administering first aid as needed. Enforce pool and beach safety rules with professionalism and tact. Maintain safety and operation of pool pump and chemical rooms. Participate in regular training, drills, and mandatory lifeguard meetings to maintain peak readiness. Provide outstanding service to members and guests, creating a safe and welcoming environment. What We're Looking For Ability to perform rescue and lifesaving practices and procedures, including rescues, first aid, surveillance. Familiar with surf beaches. Able to swim 500 yards under 10 minutes and run half mile under 4 minutes. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices applicable to working as a lifeguard. Calm deportment during emotionally stressful situations. Speak, read and write in English language; understand and follow written & oral instructions; maintain accurate records. Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated tact, courtesy, and diplomacy. Communicate and assist members in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to safely operate beach utility vehicle (ATV) and rescue jet ski.
Preferred Licenses/Certification:
National Lifeguard certification National First Aid certification National First Responder certification National CPR certification Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Candidates must have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (Florida license required within 30 days of residency). Club may be able to provide certain certifications, if needed.
