Lifeguard

OverviewThe Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and supervision of the pool area during swim programs.



Responsibilities1. Provide supervision of pool area ensuring the safety of all pool participants. Maintain safe and clean environment for aquatic activities.2. Identify emergencies and carry out appropriate life-saving techniques in accordance with all policies and procedures for minor and major medical emergencies.3. Test pool chemical levels and maintain daily records of readings as noted in the Kennedy Krieger Institute Aquatics Policies and Procedures.4. Oversee pool security by controlling access of clients and staff during program hours.5. Assist in the supervision of locker rooms and transitional areas. Assist clients and staff entering/exiting pool and pool areas.6. Set up, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas. Ensure patient and staff safety, hygiene, and privacy according to patient-specific and standard precautions.7. Inventory, secure, clean, and maintain all instructional equipment8. Notify Manager, Adaptive Aquatics and Wellness or Facilities department, as appropriate, of any conditions relating to the pool that may require attention.9. Perform non patient care duties, including conducting program tours and greeting/transporting patients.10. various patient transfer techniques using proper body mechanics and assistive devices, requesting assistance as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess and maintain valid and current certification as a Lifeguard.
  • Must possess and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Pool Operator certification preferred.
EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE

1 year of prior experience as a lifeguard in a therapeutic setting preferred.

Minimum pay range

USD $32,570.10/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $51,271.79/Yr.
