THE ROLE
Under immediate supervision, responsible for teaching swimming classes and assisting in the public in the safe use of swimming pools. Position filled on temporary basis. The full job description can be found here: Water Safety InstructorMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Minimum age of 16 years Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions. Licenses and Certifications Must possess a valid state of Nevada driver's license/Identification Credential or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record. Applicants must be able to obtain all required below certifications within two weeks of date of hire and prior to working in an instructor capacity. NLS will provide all need training. American Red Cross or Star Guard Lifeguard Training Certificate which includes Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Water Safety Instructor Certificate.SELECTION PROCESS 1.

- The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. 3. Swim Skills Assessment (Pass/Fail)
- This test evaluates your comfort and ability in deep water.
Candidates will be assessed on:
Swimming Surface dives Treading water Weight retrieval 4. Oral board interview (Pass/Fail). 5. Pre-Employment Screening- Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; drug screening; and a Child Abuse & Neglect Registry clearance for applicants 18 years of age or above.
