We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Team Lead Instructor to oversee daily operations, support our swim instructors, and ensure that all students receive the best learning experience possible.
Job Overview:
As the Swim School Team Lead Instructor, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our swim classes and supporting our coaching staff in delivering exceptional swimming instruction. A key part of your role will be ensuring an inclusive environment for all students, including those with special needs, while maintaining high safety standards and effective communication with parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee Daily Swim Classes:
Ensure lessons are running smoothly, instructors are supported, and the facility is maintained to the highest standards.
Instructor Supervision:
Provide guidance and mentorship to swim instructors, helping them refine teaching techniques and improve student engagement, including adapting instruction for special needs students.
Safety Management:
Enforce and monitor safety protocols around the pool area, ensuring a secure environment for all students, especially those who may require additional supervision.
Parent/Student Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns or feedback, with a focus on inclusive communication. Assist with
Scheduling:
Collaborate with management to schedule classes, ensuring appropriate instructor coverage and effective class groupings, including accommodations for students with special needs.
Training and Onboarding:
Assist in training and onboarding new swim instructors, with a focus on creating an inclusive learning environment for students of all abilities.
Monitor Facility Cleanliness:
Ensure all poolside and facility areas are clean, safe, and meet all health and safety standards.
Equipment Management:
Manage swim equipment, ensuring it is well-maintained and adapted if necessary for use by special needs swimmers.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role within a swim school or similar aquatic environment. Experience working with special needs students is highly preferred.
Certifications:
Lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid certification (required); Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred.
Strong Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to liaise between staff, students, and parents, especially when discussing progress or adaptations for special needs swimmers.
Leadership Abilities:
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and support a team in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.
Knowledge of Swimming Techniques:
Familiarity with teaching methods and swim instruction programs, with an understanding of adapting programs for various needs.
Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including scheduling, safety oversight, and administrative tasks.
Customer Service Oriented:
Dedicated to delivering exceptional service to all students and families, including those with special needs.
Reliable and Adaptable:
Punctual, dependable, and able to handle last-minute changes or challenges with ease.
