The position will report to the Swimming Pool Manager who oversees the swimming pool location. This position involves the daily operations of an aquatic's recreation facility including patron safety, supervising staff, leading programs, and day to day operations. Duties include but are not limited to In absence of Pool Manager supervises full-time and temporary staff at assigned pool(s). Recommends selection, assigns and evaluates work, trains, and recommends discipline if necessary. Assist with overseeing and training facility staff on building operations, customer service and other training as needed. Instructing swimming and water fitness classes. Coordinates facility programs, staff schedules, breaks, and rotation charts. Administering and assuring compliance with rules and regulations to prevent injuries and assists lifeguards with pool monitoring and rescue as needed. Completes basic pool maintenance and maintains critical safety records. Maintains pool chemistry, safety equipment, conducts scheduled pool chemical checks, directs facility clean up when needed. Assist with scheduling and leading in-service and scheduled training. Incumbents supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, tracking attendance, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures. Assist with registration and payments for programs. Ensures public safety in and around the pool by actively surveying the entire pool, the pool deck, and surrounding areas for patrons needing assistance. Assists the Swimming Pool Manager in the day-to-day operation of the assigned pool(s), which may include filling out required paperwork, assisting with facility maintenance and cleanliness, and providing safety instructions Qualifications, Special Certifications and LicensesMINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED or vocational training Three years of lifeguard experience An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification. LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/orOTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
CPO/AFO certification Lifeguard certification WSI certification First Aid and CPR/AED certification Water Aerobics certification Bilingual with Spanish as a second language is a plusKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
