KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions Performs lifeguarding functions as scheduled and within established standards. Responds immediately to emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures, taking action even when unsure whether a person is in immediate danger. Communicates in a positive and specific nature with members, participants, and other staff. Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules. Maintains accurate records as required by the Y, Washington State Health Department, and/or other local, state, or federal agencies. Knows, reviews, practices, follows, and makes recommendations to improve safety procedures and practices at the Y Deliver superior customer service to diverse groups of people of all ages from all social and economic segments of the community.
Other Position Functions:
Participates in required YMCA training, meetings and events, including monthly Aquatic Staff Challenges. Maintains open communication with the Aquatic Team as well as other Y personnel and members. Assists in maintaining first aid and emergency equipment within established standards. Performs pool and locker-room checks, routinely picking up and cleaning as needed. Documents all accidents/ incidents per established YMCA policies and procedures and as required by law. Performs other duties as assigned.
