Job Description
Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for cleaning a specified amount of guest rooms, according to the department's standards of quality, in a specified amount of time. Incumbent must possess skills and personality to interact and communicate with guests to provide customer service according to department's standard. Must be able to communicate basic requests, polite verbiage, etc. in order to provide service to guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Adheres to all Norwich Inn & Spa Policies and Procedures Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility. Attends all required meetings. Completes special department projects as assigned Reports maintenance issues, of furniture, property and/or equipment to Supervisor Participates in required training Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains Guestrooms and Villas according to standards; including but not limited to: changing linens, restocking amenities, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash cans. Reports lost/found items to Supervisor, puts item(s) in bag with ticket filled out. Reports missing items i.e. robes, towels Replaces missing items i.e. glasses, soap dishes. Removes loaned items from check out rooms. Reports damage of linen or furniture to Supervisor. Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must possess basic math skills necessary for conducting inventories and counting linens. Valid, unexpired, state-issued driver's license. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Good guest relations skills. Prior hotel cleaning experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate at a level necessary to read and follow instructions .
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Must possess basic math skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, and writing. Required to stand and walk 95% of the time. Required to bend or kneel 5% of the time while performing room inspections and to assist with cleaning using commercial cleaning agents. Must be able to push or lift approximately 40 lbs. with repetitive motions for extended periods without restriction.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Spa at Norwich Inn is a year-round Resort, which includes accommodations located in a Historic Inn as well as an adjacent condo complex; duties are performed in both locations requiring walking between the Inn and the Villas in inclement weather.
