Role:

The Housekeeper in a substance use disorder facility plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position ensures that all assigned areas are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected according to established protocols, thereby reducing the risk of infection and promoting overall health and well-being. The housekeeper will manage various cleaning tasks including floor care, waste disposal, and surface sanitation, while adhering to safety standards and infection control guidelines. Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to speak and understand English to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including reaching overhead and handling cleaning equipment. Capability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately. Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read cleaning protocols and perform simple mathematical computations. Experience or ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare or social assistance setting. Knowledge of infection control practices and healthcare sanitation standards. Certification in cleaning or sanitation procedures. Ability to operate specialized floor care machinery. Basic understanding of workplace safety and hazard communication.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Conduct floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and vacuuming to maintain cleanliness and safety standards. Follow detailed oral and written instructions to ensure compliance with healthcare facility protocols and infection control measures. Manage waste disposal and recycling processes in accordance with health and safety regulations. Reach overhead and other difficult-to-access areas to clean vents, light fixtures, and other surfaces as required. Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisors promptly. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.
