Job Description

Our Mission To positively impact child development and nurture healthy and responsive relationships during the critical early years. Job Summary The Housekeeping staff are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the facility. Collaborates with leadership staff to ensure that all public health codes and DCFS regulations are met and maintained. The housekeeping staff are also responsible for working in cooperation with the Director of Center Based Programming to coordinate the safety, maintenance, and equipment needs of the building. Essential Functions Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position Assures the proper and timely delivery of breakfast, lunch, and snacks to classrooms and returns dirty dishes to EOC's kitchen. Wash classroom sippy cups, bottles and other individual classroom utensils and return dried dishes to classrooms after breakfast, lunch and snack. Assists in the organization of the bottle washing room, laundry facilities, and janitorial closets. Coordinate new room set up including furniture and Office machines, Assemble new furniture and equipment if needed. Ensures safe playgrounds by conducting safety checks each morning when center-based care is in session. Identifies damaged or unsafe equipment, materials, and/or any additional safety hazards and communicating that with leadership staff. Conducts small repairs on playground equipment as needed Manages cleaning the environment by: Cleaning all bathrooms and documenting on the posted lists. Collecting, washing, folding and delivering laundry to classrooms. Mopping floors, Sanitizing or disinfecting areas as needed. Cleaning assignments as assigned. Perform general maintenance tasks for the building Small repairs, Paint touch ups, hang fixtures Trash Removal Distribute Large Deliveries Light Lawn Maintenance, Water sod, Pull weeds, Check grounds for Debris Driving Responsibilities Deliver Recyclables to Midwest Fiber Drive for items needed to complete a project Preform other work duties as assigned Other Job Requirements Adheres to dress code set by Baby TALK as a representative of the program. As a professional Baby TALK staff member, maintaining confidentiality of all information concerning families. Assisting in daily maintenance of the center. Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Effective management skills including:
written and verbal communication skills, decision-making skills, time and stress management skills, organizational skills, and observational skills. Ability to work with diverse populations including special needs families. Ability to represent the agency in a professional capacity. Ability to work as a member of a team where diverse program content must be well integrated to provide quality services. Ability to pass agency sponsored physical examination and pass background checks. Ability to relate positively to children and adults. Judgment and discretion in interpreting and adapting guidelines to specific problems; situations are somewhat varied and moderately complex. Other Skill Requirements Driver's License Required Must be physically able to lift forty pounds and mop, and vacuum. Effective training/development skills. Must take a food service course and pass. Must perform duties with moderate direction given, operating from established directions and instructions. Decisions are made with general agency policy constraints, but occasionally requires independent decision making. As a professional with Baby TALK staff member, maintaining confidentiality of all information concerning families. Problem Solving Skills Education and Job Requirements Must have High School Diploma or GED and some past experience with young children is strongly preferred. Must have a Driver's License. Job Job Conditions:
The Housekeeping staff with light maintenance may work outdoors intermittently with exposure to typical weather providing maintenance of outside activities for children. There may be frequent interruptions. May be exposed to illnesses generally attributed to children. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and able to do duties to complete kitchen and housekeeping staff including light maintenance. Must be able to climb and work off a ladder Mental Requirements of the
Job:
Continual interaction with co-workers, parents, and children to provide information. Must relate positively to children and adults. Must be able to handle multi-faceted tasks on a frequent basis. Accountability The Housekeeping staff is directly accountable to the Director of Center-Based Programming. The Director of Center-Based Programming evaluates the housekeeping staff once annually and more frequently if needed. The staff is evaluated based on the responsibilities described in this Position Description, with particular emphasis on meeting regulation of the Illinois Department of Public Health and DCFS.
