Environmental Services (EVS) Full Time Job Summary The Housekeeper I is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Environmental Services department by maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication with staff, patients, families, and visitors. The Housekeeper I plays a critical role in infection prevention and helping create a positive experience for everyone within the facility. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Strong communication skills. Ability to follow directions and work independently. Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare setting. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in housekeeping, environmental services, or healthcare cleaning preferred. Certification or training in infection control practices preferred. Experience using commercial cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas. Follow established cleaning schedules and departmental procedures. Safely use, maintain, and store cleaning equipment and supplies. Adhere to infection control, safety, and environmental services policies and procedures. Report maintenance concerns, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards promptly. Restock cleaning supplies and maintain organized supply areas. Dispose of waste and soiled materials in accordance with established protocols. Maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned work areas. Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and visitors. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Assist with training new employees as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Organizational Expectations Represent the organization professionally. Promote safety, cleanliness, and infection control standards. Maintain competency and industry knowledge related to environmental services. Participate in quality improvement activities. Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Deliver excellent customer service aligned with organizational values. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform overhead lifting as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing more than 50 pounds.
