Job Description
Housekeeper - Skilled Nursing Facility We are seeking a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our skilled nursing facility in New Jersey. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, families, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, dining areas, and common spaces. Dust furniture, disinfect frequently touched surfaces, vacuum carpets, mop floors, and remove trash. Follow facility policies, infection-prevention procedures, and applicable New Jersey healthcare regulations. Use cleaning products, disinfectants, and equipment safely and according to manufacturer instructions. Handle soiled linens and waste using proper safety and infection-control precautions. Replenish housekeeping and personal-care supplies as needed. Operate vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and other housekeeping equipment. Respect residents' privacy, dignity, belongings, and individual preferences. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, spills, and infection-control concerns immediately. Follow proper procedures when cleaning isolation rooms or areas requiring additional precautions. Communicate respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and team members. Assist with laundry duties when assigned. Complete other housekeeping responsibilities as directed. Qualifications Previous housekeeping experience in a nursing home, hospital, assisted living community, hotel, or commercial setting is preferred. Knowledge of healthcare sanitation and infection-prevention practices is a plus. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and required safety procedures. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills. Compassionate and respectful approach when working around elderly and medically vulnerable residents. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the shift. Dependable attendance and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Availability to work assigned weekends and holidays. Must meet all applicable New Jersey employment, health-screening, and background-check requirements.
